Main Idea

I want this tower defense to stand out from the others. The way were going to accomplish that is by making a tower defense that stray’s from the typical path most tower defense go through. Here I’m going to list all the things that are going to make this game special and unique.

  1. First, every single tower in our game (common, rare, legendary, all of them) will have some unique and potentially useful trait/ability and they will all be balanced (at least in terms of DPS). There may be a few exceptions to “every tower being balanced”. You might ask, “Then what’s the difference between common and super rare towers?” the difference between common towers and more rare towers will not be that the rarer towers do more damage
    • More rare: the more rare a tower is the easier it will be to find a use for its ability. it will be very obvious where and when the tower will be good and what towers it synergizes with.
    • Less rare: these towers will have abilities that on the surface almost don’t even look that good, players will have to dig really deep to find situations in which this tower’s ability will be useful and it will be very difficult to find synergies with its ability.
    • This system will allow for even very common towers to sometimes appear in the meta.
  2. Another thing that will separate our game from the rest is the way towers are obtained. Most tower defense games will have some pretty simple way to obtain most if not all towers (banner, crafting, or just simply buying them) we are not going to have 1 basic way to obtain towers. Every tower will have a very unique method of obtaining it that wont always be obvious to the players and that will line up with the theme of that tower. We may have some sort of crafting system in the future, but if we do there will only be a very small number of towers that can be obtained through this. Same goes with possibly allowing some towers to simply purchased through a shop if it makes sense with the theme of the tower.
  3. The third thing that will allow our tower defense to stand out is it wont be nearly as grindy as other games, Or at least it wont feel as grindy. I want this game to feel like a challenge, to do this instead of having your typical “beat this easy trail 20 times so you can craft this tower” our game will be more like “beat this extremely difficult challenge 1 time and get some reward” you may think this takes a lot grindy-ness out of the game but in actuality the trial will be so hard to the point where it will likely take dozens of attempts (and finding the right combination of towers) before your able to pull it off. This game will highly reward skillful and creative players and at some points should seem more like a puzzle game (finding the right synergies) then your typical grindy game.
